Kinsa’s mission is to stop the spread of contagious illness through early detection and early response. To accomplish this mission, we’ve spent the last 8 years deploying an extensive smart thermometer network that has proven to accurately predict how flu is spreading across the US weeks ahead of other systems. Over the past 8 years, Kinsa thermometers have guided millions of users to care to get better faster, while aggregating population health insights to stop the spread of illness.
This mission is perhaps more important today than ever before, as our global society struggles to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 18, Kinsa launched healthweather.us, which showed unusually high levels of fever in the population — in many cases, this has been confirmed as the first and only signal of COVID-19 spreading in a community. Kinsa’s findings have been profiled in the New York Times 3 times in as many months (here, here and here), and have support from public health experts, scientists, business leaders, and politicians from both sides of the aisle.
